About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I at Colorcon’s Indianapolis facility plays a vital role in supporting site operations and ensuring production continuity. This entry-level position is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks and assisting with basic troubleshooting to maintain reliable equipment performance. Working under close supervision, this role provides an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills and gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or maintenance principles.
  • Willingness to complete required on-the-job training and safety courses while continuously developing technical skills.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Analytical mindset with strong root-cause problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to safety and quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school coursework or certificate in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Systems, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, control systems troubleshooting, HVAC, and boilers is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with Lean principles and industrial/manufacturing operations is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including lubrication, cleaning, filter replacement, and other routine tasks to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic issues with manufacturing equipment and control systems.
  • Replace simple components such as bulbs, fuses, belts, and bearings.
  • Respond to maintenance and facility emergencies as needed, including off-shift support.
  • Assist senior technicians and external contractors with repairs and maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Apply Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles to analyze equipment data and recommend appropriate maintenance approaches.
  • Maintain, prioritize, and update work lists to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Purchase, receive, and organize parts and tools to support maintenance activities.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities and asset information in the Asset Management System.
