This position performs various types of mechanical repairs to all City owned vehicles and equipment, such as major brake repairs, engine overhauls, transmission overhauls, tune-ups, any and all repairs necessary to keep vehicles and equipment safe and in good working conditions. Make major and minor repairs on all City-owned gasoline, CNG and diesel-powered equipment and vehicles, including garbage trucks, fire trucks, backhoes, mowers, generators, lift pump engines etc. Inspect and diagnoses problems/malfunctions on City vehicles and equipment. Plan work procedures for each project and determine parts needed for each project. Complete and enter work orders into the computer. Coordinates work with other team members. Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in a proper state of repair. Able to diagnose electrical wiring issues and install emergency equipment (light bars, strobe lights, sirens) on Police, Fire and City vehicles. Keeps work area clean. Able to attend schools and workshops to further education. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policy. Perform any and all duties assigned.
