About The Position

Do you enjoy hands-on work and taking pride in keeping buildings running smoothly? Ss. Simon & Jude Cathedral Parish & School is seeking a skilled and dependable Full-Time Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance Team. This is a benefits-eligible position responsible for maintaining and repairing parish and school buildings, grounds, and equipment to help ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, parishioners, and visitors. The Maintenance Technician supports daily operations and special events through hands-on repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance across our campus.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment related to facility upkeep.
  • Demonstrated initiative, reliability, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with employees, volunteers, and parishioners.
  • Strong teamwork skills and commitment to a professional and respectful work environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physical work in varying conditions.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as needed.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade training preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of facilities or building maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license and fingerprint clearance card required.
  • Completion of the Diocese’s Safe Environment Training required.
  • Supportive of the mission and Catholic identity of Ss. Simon & Jude Cathedral Parish & School.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of buildings, systems, and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical issues.
  • Complete carpentry and general building repairs, including doors, locks, drywall, fixtures, and furniture.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to extend the life and efficiency of building systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility-related emergencies.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or projects.
  • Assist with facility setup and breakdown for parish and school events.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, inventory, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.
  • Follow all safety procedures and applicable regulations.
