The Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing and installing manufacturing equipment to ensure maximum productivity of the operation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist Diploma or equivalent OR previous advanced training and experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge and experience with machinery components, pumps, motors and controls.
  • Experience troubleshooting and documenting equipment breakdowns, resolving issues and handling repairs.
  • Flexibility concerning work activities and requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation.

Nice To Haves

  • Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) experience - an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that safety policies, housekeeping rules and guidelines, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed.
  • Maintain, install and repair industrial parts and equipment within the plant to ensure a safe and reliable day to day operation of the plant equipment.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Management to troubleshoot repairs and manage regular maintenance and compliance programs.
  • Perform routine equipment preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubrication and inspection.
  • Interpret blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures.
  • Record and maintain documentation relating to maintenance activities and calibrations.
  • Complete daily site inspections and required reporting.
  • Understand all areas within the facility to include safe lock out procedures and equipment guarding.
  • Identify issues and unsafe work conditions and implement the required corrective actions.
  • Set-up, maintain and operate shop tools and equipment.
  • Manage spare part, supply and equipment inventories.
  • Other duties as assigned.
