About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for the supervision, training, operations, quality assurance, ticketing management for the Maintenance and Custodial Team. Maintaining the highest expectation of quality service, the Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for maintaining all compliance standards for the team. The Maintenance Team Lead works with staff and leadership to create a physically and emotionally safe environment for the Nexus community, using trauma-informed practices.

Requirements

  • Superior communication skills; the ability to communicate in writing, in person, and in virtual spaces clearly and appropriately with internal staff, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience and skill for collaborating in an office environment, with high competence working in Microsoft Outlook and other computer systems. Ability to manage e-mail and ticketing systems and adapt to changes in a digital environment.
  • Ability to set performance expectations, requirements with the ability to provide feedback to staff in a respectful manner. Ability to support a team-orientated environment for the team.
  • Day-to-day management of residential campus, and ability to respond to and complete maintenance tasks with limited supervision.
  • Working knowledge of facility equipment and tools and the ability to train others in their use.
  • Able to repeatedly lift 25 lbs.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Joint Commission standards, HHSC standards relating to campus maintenance, and HIPPA Compliance, and Employee & Client Confidentiality.
  • Sensitivity and ability to work with people of various races, cultures, personal orientation, and socioeconomic levels.
  • Ability to provide services in line with Nexus Core Values of Respect, Compassion and Integrity.
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent professional experience required.

  • Knowledge and experience in a relevant trade (HVAC, plumbing, electric) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the campus facilities ticket queue, assigning tasks to themself, to Maintenance staff, and to Custodial staff so that regular maintenance and daily campus needs are met. Escalates issues to the Director of Operations as appropriate, completes building and maintenance tickets, and ensures that assigned tickets are completed.
  • Manages scheduling for the team, and establishes and maintains norms for addressing coverage needs when there are scheduling issues.
  • Conducts and documents regular inspections of the campus grounds and buildings to maintain compliance standards and monitor for issues with facilities and equipment. Conducts regular audits of vehicle maintenance, building audits, documentation and other logs.
  • Responds to facilities requests for on-campus meetings and events, and coordinates event and meeting setup among the Maintenance and Custodial team and the Kitchen team.
  • Manages ordering for housekeeping and campus supplies.
  • Works closely with the Director of Operations to handle some basic plant functions and manage vendors and service for equipment, including thermostats, vehicles, laundry, and groundskeeping.
  • Attends all required staff training sessions by Nexus and state licensing requirements and completes all training on time and ensures team attendance.
  • Attends and participates in all staff and leadership meetings.
  • Other duties within the organization as assigned.
