About The Position

The Maintenance Support Technician will perform general maintenance, clean and/or replace filters for the HVAC units, and repair housing facilities to include maintaining doors, windows, stairways, locks and furniture. Aspects of the position will also involve minor plumbing and painting. May be called upon to assist with other duties requested by the Assistant Director of Facilities and as time will allow. Duties include but are not limited to: Follow verbal instruction, rough sketches, or detailed drawings. Clean and/or replace filters for the HVAC units in the residential halls. Maintain campus aesthetic standards through collection and disposal of refuse. Assist with office relocation and personnel transitions. Assist with deliveries from MU Print Shop Furniture Assembly Maintain and alter doors, stairways, partitions, desks, cabinets, furniture, and a variety of other wooden fixtures. Repair and maintain screens, floors, windows, ceilings, and similar building parts. Install bulletin boards, doors, and hardware. Painting. Performs some plumbing maintenance. Complete weekly inspection of fire pumps Complete Weekly Hazardous Waste Inspection using proper documentation Complete Weekly Eyewash Station inspection for Maintenance Area Complete monthly elevator FFO testing Complete Monthly Inspections of all AED’s and properly document the inspections. Inform supervisor about replacement equipment in timely manner Complete Annual Safety Shower inspection for Maintenance and Science Building Ensure Universal Waste is properly stored and dated This position is considered an essential position and may be required to report (if safely possible) during emergencies or inclement conditions. Other maintenance functions as requested by Facilities leadership.

Requirements

  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license throughout employment and provide verification as requested.
  • Must have the ability to: Properly care for assigned areas and equipment.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Lift/move heavy equipment and objects as needed.
  • Properly use and care for hand and power tools.
