About The Position

Oversees the operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of physical structures and equipment, and provides on-site supervision to maintenance staff relative to special construction and renovation projects.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and other maintenance methods.
  • Knowledge of blueprints and schematics, and able to read and interpret the same.
  • Knowledge of fire safety codes and operation, asbestos and mold issues.
  • Knowledge of public access and accommodations as related to ADA.
  • Knowledge of supervisory and personnel procedures.
  • Ability to apply specialized knowledge to individual problems and to analyze problems and formulate and direct corrective action to prevent further problems.
  • Ability to operate and use a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and prudent manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in a tactful and courteous manner with diverse parties.
  • Ability to assign, schedule, supervise, and review the work of others.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to prepare clear, complete, and logical reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and pull job materials.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather and environmental conditions, such as noise, dirt and fumes.
  • High school graduate or equivalent plus two years of trade school or equivalent training in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, paints, and skilled trades.
  • Must possess universal EPA certification in HVAC plus have three years of directly related work experience in facility or plant maintenance.
  • A minimum of one year of supervisory experience in maintenance/applicable building codes.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license from state of residence, and provide proof of such.
  • Must possess and maintain state mandated auto liability insurance and properly licensed, reliable vehicle, and provide proof of such.

Responsibilities

  • Tour and inspect facilities to identify and schedule maintenance jobs to be performed.
  • Schedule, assign, and coordinate staff.
  • Monitor and inspect jobs facilities to ensure quality and timely work.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems.
  • Request work orders and monitor the progress of their completion
  • Perform maintenance work to aid in the completion of jobs.
  • Procure required materials and parts for jobs as necessary, which involves frequent pick-up and delivery to job site.
  • Ensure jobs are done in compliance with established building codes and standards.
  • Coordinate code inspections.
  • Maintain a preventive maintenance routine.
  • Respond timely to emergency requests.
  • Keep supervisor informed as to job status, staff requests, job costs, etc.
  • Assist in the planning of jobs and projects.
  • Provide direct supervision and training to maintenance staff.
  • Attend meetings and training.
  • Maintain communication with staff in regard to facility operation and problems.
  • Respond to staff requests.
  • Determine costs for jobs, equipment, and other operational improvements, or changes.
  • Provide input and recommendations to reduce maintenance costs.
  • Perform other duties as required.
