GENERAL SUMMARY: The Maintenance Supervisor will provide leadership to the Maintenance Department. This includes ensuring that all equipment is in peak operating condition and participating as an active member of our Production Managerial Team. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible and accountable for, but not limited to, the proper and safe functioning of all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic equipment used in metal fabrication such as furnaces and casters, rolling mills and extrusion, blanking, and coining presses. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Will maximize machine productivity and uptime through the development of proactive, predictive and preventative maintenance processes. Will have above average critical thinking skills related to troubleshooting and correcting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment problems. Will hold staff accountable and ensure that all assignments are completed correctly and in a timely manner. Will use continuous coaching, mentoring, and leadership to develop and train maintenance staff to new or updated maintenance techniques and procedures. Will further develop and maintain SMI’s CMMS System to optimize maintenance inventory levels, parts purchasing, daily reports on PM scheduling and work-ticket tracking. Will develop and/or verify adherence to all applicable Federal, State or Local laws and regulations including OSHA and environmental permitting. Will have proven experience developing and communicating clear staff expectations and holding employees accountable to maintaining a cooperative/team-based relationship with production operations. Must be able to travel between manufacturing plants – Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Las Vegas, Nevada – as required and necessary (10%). Teach a different approach to maintenance using the CMMS to develop a root cause analysis mind set in the team. Must be able to plan and implement and instruct best practices of repairs. Must be able to plan schedule and execute overhaul of equipment, this is in coordination with the production team. Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors, scheduling and negotiating vendors, equipment, spares, PM's. Process analysis experience is desirable. Working supervisor “hands on”. Must be able to complete additional duties may be assigned as required and necessary.
