About The Position

The Maintenance Superintendent is primarily responsible for using independent judgment and discretion to supervise and coordinate all training of rig maintenance personnel, electrical and mechanical equipment purchases, and maintenance oversight of rig equipment, electrical components, and systems. This position develops, implements, administers and maintains the Company’s Rig Asset Management Systems (RAMS) across the Company’s office, rig, yard, and construction operations. This position is also responsible for reviewing and editing offshore rig maintenance procedures and systems to verify compliance with all applicable regulations and operator requirements as well working closely with other H&P maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Use independent judgment to review current Maintenance Programs, including RAMS installation, and assist in developing migration plans for rigs moving from existing maintenance programs to RAMS.
  • Assist in the implementation of RAMS on all rigs, coordinating preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment.
  • Direct and supervise rig Electricians and Mechanics, managing them to support drilling operations and efficiently distribute manpower based on operational needs.
  • Schedule and participate in OEM equipment audits, conduct rig electrical and mechanical system inspections, and submit audit reports.
  • Assist in developing minimum competency skill levels for all technical personnel positions on rigs, including training requirements for Mechanics, Electricians, and Electrical Technicians.
  • Aid internal departments in developing root cause analysis reporting for equipment failures, investigate incidents, accidents, and injuries, and submit reports.
  • Review critical spares in support of rigs, including the number of capital spares required, offsite storage locations, and onsite storage locations.
  • Supervise and reinforce safety and operational procedures, recommending changes to meet HSE and operational goals and objectives.
  • Establish and maintain mutual understanding, communications, and cooperation between operations, management, engineering, manufacturers, and customers regarding electrical and mechanical operation, maintenance, and inspections.
  • Prepare reports for managerial review concerning operational electrical and mechanical problems and equipment maintenance requirements.
  • Monitor changes to API recommended practices, manufacturer maintenance procedures, customer requirements, HSE Standards and Guidelines, regulatory requirements, and other applicable regulations related to the rigs' electrical and mechanical equipment systems.
  • Manage and supervise offshore maintenance related to drilling and completion operations, verifying compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Align offshore activities with company objectives by coordinating with onshore teams.
  • Provide leadership during crisis situations and ensure continuity of operations.
  • Oversee budgets and costs for daily rig operations and rig upgrade projects.
  • Support the preparation of maintenance for the mobilization and start up of offshore rigs with regard to reliability.
  • Assist and support the Offshore Engineering Department, including root cause analysis of offshore rig equipment failures
