About The Position

Heritage Behavioral Health Center is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to ensure our facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for staff and clients. This role is essential to maintaining the integrity and comfort of our physical spaces. As a Maintenance Specialist, you will perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections across our Decatur and Clinton facilities. You’ll work closely with the Safety team and other departments to ensure a secure and well-maintained environment. This full-time position is now available to ensure that our buildings are maintained at the highest levels for staff and those who visit our facilities.

Requirements

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and building systems
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Work 40 hours per week, day shift, Monday through Friday; occasional weekend work may be required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior maintenance experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance required

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance tasks (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry) across all Heritage facilities in Macon and DeWitt counties
  • Ability to work independently with supervision or training on maintenance items
  • Assist with generalized cleaning of Heritage’s main facility and provide support at off-site locations as needed
  • Maintain an eye for detail and proactively identify issues before they are reported
  • Ensure routine building inspections are completed and documented
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests via the Maintenance email system
  • Perform snow and ice removal during inclement weather
  • Pick up orders from outside vendors and deliver supplies or other items to off-site locations
  • Assist the Director of Operations in ensuring Heritage buildings comply with OSHA and CARF standards
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and over regularly; occasional heavy lifting and power tool operation may be required
  • Exposure to inside and outside environmental conditions
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in all facility areas
  • Document maintenance activities and report issues to leadership
