About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Maintenance Repair Worker 3 for the Parking and Transportation Department within Facilities Services. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. This position is responsible for maintaining the campus parking lots, garages, and parking dispenser machines. Duties include (but are not limited to): Maintain and conduct walk through safety and maintenance inspections of parking complexes and surface lots; Maintain Parking Structure Maintenance Schedule by inspecting surface lots quarterly for surface cracks, condition of stripping, and condition of signage; Inspect all areas for safety concerns such as potholes, shrubbery obstructing traffic signs, deteriorating bumper blocks, etc.; Plan and coordinate maintenance projects not to inconvenience or obstruct parking patrons; Perform motorist assistance by providing battery jumps and flat tire exchanges; Maintain and perform installation and/or replacement of signage, install and/or replace bumper blocks, maintain bicycle racks and remove debris; Perform mechanical repairs on all permit dispensers and machines; troubleshoot issues with vendors to minimize down time; Identify potential maintenance and coordinate projects; Properly use and maintain tools and equipment while following safety regulations; Provide accurate information and service to customers; Provide quality service with professionalism, integrity and honesty; remain polite, courteous, cooperative and helpful; Follow through when customers provide feedback, suggestions, or complaints; Maintain a calm demeanor while performing job duties and assisting the public; and Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • two (2) years of experience performing semi-skilled work in the relevant building and/or mechanical trades; OR One (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker Il in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
  • Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
  • A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Responsibilities
