About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under minimal supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic I assists the facility department in providing a clean and safe environment for all members and program participants. The Facility Mechanic responds to requests for cleaning and maintenance needs with urgency to assure quality service in a safe manner. Who Are We? Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in the maintenance field
  • Must be well groomed and have good communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic custodial equipment and functions
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of experience in the facility field preferred
  • Mechanical and electrical experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • General facilities maintenance –plumbing, electrical, changing light bulbs, etc.
  • Be proactive in cleaning the facility interior/exterior, and complete cleaning tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Room set up/break down as needed.
  • Grounds and pool maintenance as instructed.
  • Actively participate in preventative maintenance program.
  • Follow safety procedures/instructions for cleaning and mixing chemicals.
  • Adhere to safety and risk management procedures and alert management of any safety violations or risk situations.
  • Select and use appropriate tools and materials according to job specifications.
  • Notify supervisor of supplies needed and inventory shortages.
  • Complete projects according to schedule.
  • Attend meetings and training courses as scheduled.
  • Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
