About The Position

The APEX Power Co. Project in Hubbard, TX, under construction in Phase 1, it is expected to build out to 1.6 GW. It features a diverse mix of generation technologies, including GE LM6000/LM2500 simple cycle turbines and MAN/Everllence 18V51/60G gas reciprocating engines, and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), enabling flexible and reliable power output. Expansion of the site could include additional GE Aero units (LM2500), GE large frame units (7FA/7FB/7H), and Siemens V84.2 units configured in simple or combined cycle. This combination allows the plant to efficiently meet varying energy demands while supporting data center grid reliability and stability. Opportunity Summary The Maintenance Manager at the APEX Power Co. Project will lead the maintenance organization through pre-commissioning and into commercial operation, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient performance of all generation and balance-of-plant equipment. This role includes establishing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, coordinating contractors, managing budgets, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant availability, performance, and reliability. During pre-commissioning, the Maintenance Manager will focus on staffing, procedures, commissioning support, and readiness activities to ensure the plant is prepared for successful startup.

Requirements

  • We are seeking an accomplished leader with extensive experience in the operations and maintenance of power generating facilities, paired with a strong history of career growth and a track record of excellence in achieving results.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent is desired, providing a strong foundation for understanding the technical aspects of power plant operations and management. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Extensive management experience directing maintenance operations in multi-technology power plants, overseeing aero-derivative and frame combustion turbines, reciprocating engines, and/or BESS systems, along with balance-of-plant equipment, to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, implementing maintenance best practices to maximize plant reliability, availability, and performance.
  • Expertise in designing and executing comprehensive maintenance programs, including preventive, predictive, and corrective strategies focused on combustion turbines and critical auxiliary systems.
  • Hands-on experience managing and configuring CMMS systems during commissioning and operations, applying reliability-centered maintenance practices and performance analysis to optimize efficiency and long-term plant reliability.
  • Proven leadership in supervising and mentoring maintenance personnel, ensuring operational readiness through effective training, staffing, and team development strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and industry standards, fostering a proactive safety culture and ensuring adherence across all maintenance activities.
  • Strong problem-solving capability, identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to reduce unplanned downtime and enhance equipment reliability.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, coordinating with Operations, Engineering, Contractors, NAES, and Owner representatives to clearly convey maintenance priorities, progress, and technical guidance.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Plant Manager in recruiting, onboarding, and qualifying initial maintenance personnel to ensure a fully staffed and technically competent maintenance team.
  • Develop staffing schedules, on-call coverage frameworks, and resource allocation plans to support commissioning, first-fire, and initial operational readiness.
  • Establish initial qualification and training programs for maintenance personnel on aero-derivative CTs, frame CTs, reciprocating engines, BESS, and balance-of-plant systems.
  • Develop first-issue maintenance procedures, inspection protocols, and preventive/predictive maintenance guidelines aligned with OEM, EPC, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in system walkdowns, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), first-fire, synchronization, and performance testing to ensure equipment reliability and safe commissioning.
  • Support the development of audit-ready documentation, operational logs, and reporting templates for seamless CCC handover from EPC to Operations.
  • Establish and configure the site CMMS during the commissioning phase, developing asset structures, preventive maintenance programs, equipment records, and work order management processes to support long-term reliability and efficient maintenance execution.
  • Oversee initial commissioning and functional validation of critical systems, including DCS/HMI verification, alarm rationalization, and equipment start/stop sequences.
  • Establish initial compliance frameworks for NERC, environmental, safety, and water chemistry programs.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Engineering to ensure all maintenance procedures, logs, and parts management systems are ready for safe and reliable plant startup.
  • Oversee maintenance personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality performance of maintenance and repair work in alignment with company policies, procedures, and technical specifications.
  • Foster a strong safety culture, including maintaining records, implementing incentive programs, and ensuring compliance with the Plant Safety Manual and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement, manage, and track preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs; analyze equipment performance and failure trends to support operational reliability and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as Project Manager for maintenance projects, coordinating activities, scheduling, monitoring performance, and providing technical expertise to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Develop and manage budgets, contracts, and work scopes for internal staff and external contractors to optimize resource utilization and ensure timely project completion.
  • Provide detailed task lists, schedules, and work-order-level guidance during normal operations, planned outages, and forced outages, ensuring availability of parts, tooling, and services.
  • Maintain accurate records in the CMMS, including work orders, historical data, and maintenance schedules to support future planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and NERC coordinators to enhance maintenance planning effectiveness, ensure compliance, and complete tasks with proper documentation.
  • Ensure maintenance manuals, OEM guides, and plant records are current, and oversee warehouse and inventory management to maintain efficient material availability and utilization.
  • Lead initiatives to improve plant performance, including reliability, heat rate, and availability, while reducing corrective maintenance needs.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of plant policies, objectives, and long-term maintenance planning strategies.
  • Promote positive community and environmental engagement by encouraging maintenance staff participation in outreach and plant stewardship activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support safe, reliable, and compliant plant operations.

Benefits

  • This position offers an annual base salary ranging from $190,000 to $221,000 and includes eligibility for an annual performance bonus.
