Covia is looking for a dynamic Maintenance person who will have a positive impact on our team at our Troy Grove Technisand, IL location. The Maintenance person will perform preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure efficient operation of the plant. Also, to fill in for other basic function and positions within the plant. The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities: Safety – Perform each and every job in a safe and timely manner. A pre-job safety discussion is mandated before any major maintenance task is undertaken. During these pre-job discussions, all the steps of the procedure will be outlined to every person involved along with any safety concerns. Preventative Maintenance - ability to perform all preventative maintenance as needed in the plant to include familiarization with oils and greases (arbors, bearings, reducers, motors) replacement and disposal, flotex boot, change/repack glands on pumps, plumbing, patching, v-belt changing, etc. Conveyors - ability to work on all aspects of belt conveyors, bucket elevators and screw conveyors to include bearings, pulleys, belt splicing, rollers, etc. Drive Mechanisms - ability to work on and replace sheaves and pulleys, chain and sprockets, reducers, motors, motor bearings, shafts, couplings, arbors (pump, scrubber, conditioner), etc. Able to align motor shafts, couplings, or shafts. Pumps and Blowers - ability to replace all wear surfaces in all type pumps and blowers to include liners, impellers, fans, wear sleeves, shafts, bearings, etc. Troubleshooting - ability to diagnose mechanical or equipment failure to include burnt up motor, blown fuse, seized bearing, excessive wear, or any other mechanical failure. Welding - ability to choose the proper rod and weld in multiple positions on different types of metal and varying thickness. Ability to work from blueprints and fabricate items as needed. Be very adept at using a cutting torch. Includes the use of dial indicators, venires, calipers, micrometers and TPM equipment. Electrical - Knowledge of electrical code and ability to wire switches, motor starters, motors and lights properly. This will include sizing, splicing, running conduit, and troubleshooting electrical problems. Mobile Equipment Operation – the prior knowledge or the ability learn how to operate the Bobcat, loader, and railcar mover properly and safely. Miscellaneous Responsibilities: Housekeeping and safety, and other informational meetings, including related activities (WHC, etc.). Work productively and ability to arrange priorities. Understand the plant's basic flow sheet as well as the operation and purpose of each type of equipment. Read and understand parts schematic and blueprints for maintenance fabrication and ordering/replacement of parts. Selecting the proper lifting equipment and proper rigging hand signals. Familiar with the care and proper safe use, nomenclature and selection of tools and materials used in maintenance. Filing, reaming, tapping, drilling, pipe fitting and other benchwork activities Perform any other task as directed by supervisor.
