About The Position

The Maintenance Generalist position at Cobb, part of the Tyson Foods family, is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the hatchery building and various equipment, including ventilation systems, incubators, hatchers, generators, air compressors, tray washers, box washers, and ADF equipment. Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months (employment gaps due to layoff or child/elder care may be extended to 18 months).
  • Previous work history requirement does not apply to applicants who have been full-time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria includes a minimum waiting period of 180 days and a rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.
  • One year of maintenance experience or equivalent educational experience.
  • Respirator certification is required and must be maintained by annual testing.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly lift pumps and motors weighing from 5 to 500 pounds.
  • Will be required to use a pallet jack to unload pallets weighing up to approximately 1800 pounds.
  • Will be required to obtain scissor lift and electrical certification.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, and climb two stories of stairs to reach the roof.
  • Must be able to work at heights of up to 22 feet.
  • Must be able to stand for the majority of the shift (on concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk, and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have good communication skills to accurately communicate with supervisors and vendors.
  • Must be able to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold environments.
  • Must wear NFPA 70 ARC flash protection (footwear, flame retardant clothing, face shield, ear plugs, electrical gloves, and safety glasses).
  • When using chemicals, this position will be required to use a face shield or safety goggles, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots.
  • Ear plugs will be used as needed.
  • NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.
  • Safety glasses are required.
  • Will be trained to recognize and comply with all safety policies.
  • Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO, and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Team member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety-related risks.

Responsibilities

  • Implement preventative maintenance and calibration programs for 26 incubators and 28 hatchers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance for approximately 25 HVAC units, 2 Reznor heaters, 3 Evap coolers, chick counter, conveyors, tray washer, and box washer.
  • Change pumps and single/three phase motors.
  • Change PLCs and VFDs on equipment such as tray washer, counter, ventilation controls, and electronic circuit boards.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on incubators, hatcher carts/dollies, wheels, bearings, air cylinders, and turning cords.
  • Repair broken, damaged, or faulty plugs, receptacles, conduit, and leaking water or air lines.
  • Troubleshoot all hatchery equipment.
  • Perform on-call duties as needed.
  • Calculate chemical pump and proportioner.
  • Empty offal tank.
  • Check generator battery and fluid levels weekly.
  • Monitor test and hour levels.
  • Assist with inventory and ordering.
  • Drive company vehicle to pick up parts or supplies.
  • Adhere to all company policies.
  • Identify, address, and mitigate safety-related risks.
