About The Position

Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU is hiring a Maintenance Engineer to join our award-winning hospitality team in downtown Tempe, AZ. In this full-time role, you’ll support the upkeep and smooth operation of our modern hotel by performing routine maintenance and basic repairs across a variety of building systems. As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll work with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, and assist with commercial kitchen equipment upkeep. You’ll conduct regular inspections, respond to service requests, and troubleshoot common issues to ensure a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for guests and associates. Experience with hotels, resorts, or commercial facilities is helpful but not required—this role is a great fit for candidates looking to grow their skills in a professional hospitality setting. Most shifts will be on the 2nd shift schedule to support peak operations.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with BAS/BCS software platforms
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, including low voltage and 3-phase high voltage
  • Experience operating or supporting central plant systems and water treatment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in both electrical and mechanical applications
  • Experience with commercial plumbing systems and related components
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs, work at heights, climb ladders, and access tight spaces
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as needed

Nice To Haves

  • EPA Universal Certification preferred (Refrigerant Handling)
  • Additional trade certifications or manufacturer training a plus
  • Prior experience in hotel, resort, or commercial facility maintenance strongly preferred
  • Proficient with CMMS systems (Synergy preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on HVAC units, mechanical equipment, kitchen appliances, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Support basic central plant operations, including routine checks on boilers, chillers, and water treatment systems (training provided as needed)
  • Use equipment manuals and diagrams to perform standard maintenance and repairs
  • Monitor building systems through the building automation system (BAS/BCS) with guidance from senior engineers
  • Conduct routine equipment checks and record performance readings for pumps, motors, cooling towers, and HVAC units
  • Perform minor electrical repairs and assist with troubleshooting low-voltage systems (exposure to higher-voltage work may be under supervision)
  • Support plumbing maintenance, including replacing fixtures, clearing drains, and assisting with pump and valve upkeep
  • Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests with professional service and follow-up
  • Assist with tracking parts inventory and help with ordering supplies
  • Maintain accurate logs, including preventive maintenance checklists and repair notes (specialized logs like refrigerant or water quality may be overseen by senior staff)
  • Follow all hotel safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout and HAZCOM
  • Provide support for hotel emergency systems, including responding to alarms and assisting with safety protocols
  • Keep the workshop and maintenance areas clean, organized, and safe
