Prepares outgoing mail for post office pickup. Job Responsibility Sorts incoming mail and parcel post packages for distribution to departments. Re-addresses and/or forwards incoming mail, as required. Opens only that mail which is addressed to Long Island Jewish Medical Center.Forwards to appropriate division, department and/or individual. Distributes and collects mail and interdepartmental messages from departments and personnel throughout all buildings at site. Operates postage meter to weigh outgoing mail and ascertain proper postage.Stamps mail accordingly and prepares registered and certified mail for mailing, maintains records of same. Prepares outgoing mail for post office pickup, as required. Maintain records of incoming express and messenger mail. Performs related duties, as required. ADA Essential Functions Job Qualification High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Ability to operate Mailroom equipment, required. Must be able to transport forty (40) to seventy (70) pound-mail sacks and packages. Ability to read English, communicate effectively and follow instructions.
