The purpose of this position is to provide friendly customer service to all Mailroom customers (students/faculty/staff), and to be knowledgeable of all core mailing services functions. The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions: Politely greet all customers with a smile Assist with package pickup and drop off Answer questions related to mailing services by becoming familiar with FAQs Sort and post incoming letter mail effectively and efficiently Scan and sort student and interoffice packages effectively and efficiently Prepare outgoing mail (letters/packages) for all external carriers (i.e., USPS, FedEx, UPS) Meter outgoing mail Perform “indoor” and “outdoor” routes as instructed Assist in processing bulk mail as needed Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor. The person in this position will work in a noisy environment, standing, sitting, bending and stretching, lifting and repetitive movements. Must be required to lift more than 60 pounds and have a valid US Driver’s license. This person may also be required to perform indoor and outdoor mail routes, which will require walking long distances. The person in this position will use the following equipment: typical office equipment, dollies, and postal scales and meters; driving the mail van as authorized and instructed.
