The Machinist at Bren-Tronics, part of EnerSys manages day-to-day machine shop activities, ensuring smooth operations, proper maintenance of equipment, and availability of materials and tooling. This position produces precision parts using CNC and manual machining, supports prototype and production efforts, and works closely with Engineering to develop fixtures and improve processes. The role also requires accurate recordkeeping and strict adherence to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Requirements

  • 7+ years of machining experience, including CNC programming, setup, and manual machining experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience with tooling and precision measurement
  • Strong problem solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently on a manufacturing floor.
  • Microsoft and ERP system knowledge.
  • Creative and adaptable approach to engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all daily operations of the machine shop to ensure efficient workflow and production output.
  • Manage procurement of all materials, tooling, and shop supplies to support manufacturing requirements.
  • Perform and coordinate preventative maintenance and repair of all machining equipment.
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC milling machines for precision component manufacturing.
  • Operate manual milling machines and lathes to produce and modify parts as needed.
  • Manufacture production components in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Design and fabricate jigs, fixtures, and tooling to support production efficiency and repeatability.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to support prototype development and build activities.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to accurately fabricate parts and tooling.
  • Machine components to support both prototype hardware and production tooling requirements.
  • Disassemble and rework assemblies for troubleshooting, repair, and process improvement.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs of work performed, including production and maintenance activities.
