About The Position

The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual and CNC machinery to produce precision metal and plastic components. This role ensures parts are manufactured to exact specifications, meets quality standards, and supports efficient production flow.

Requirements

  • Certificate or degree in Machine Tool Technology or related field OR High School diploma/ GED and 4+ years related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret prints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to measure with precision machining measuring tools.
  • Possess basic shop math skills including trigonometry and geometry.

Nice To Haves

  • Site location specific tooling : experience with CAD/CAM software (Gibbs/MasterCam), Fanuc Controls & Mazatrol programming experience, and the ability to read & write G&M code desired not required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and perform a normal range of machining activities including milling, turning drilling, tapping boring, facing, recessing, thread cutting, and similar machining operation on a variety of precision components made from ferrous and nonferrous metals and alloys.
  • Select proper tools, materials, and speeds/feeds to optimize machining process.
  • Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
  • Work from drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine operational sequence and tooling, and to select and set appropriate speeds and feeds based on material type and finish requirements.
  • Basic programming may be required.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to increase equipment reliability, workflow optimization, efficiency and water reduction.
  • Ensure all parts meet dimensional and quality specifications.
  • Work closely with engineering, quality, and other production team members to ensure accurate documentation and resolve issues.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including wearing required PPE, and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Conduct routine machine maintenance and report issues to maintenance team.

  • Basic computer and technology skills.
  • Ability to lift, move, or otherwise transfer items up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess basic personal hand tools required for the job.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
