About The Position

Coho Consulting Group is seeking Machinist manufactures, repairs, rebuilds, and modifies precision equipment components using a wide range of materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, high-carbon and alloy steels, plastics, nylon, rubber, and specialty alloys in Warner Robins, GA. The position requires operation of both conventional and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine tools to produce parts within exact tolerances. The Machinist independently interprets blueprints, sketches, models, and technical specifications to determine proper machining methods, tooling, machine setup, feeds, and speeds. The role demands advanced trade mathematics, strong analytical judgment, and the ability to adapt equipment and setups for complex geometries and non-standard configurations.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of conventional and CNC machine tools.
  • Knowledge of machine tool attachments such as rotary vises, magnetic chucks, vertical milling heads, angular drive heads, taper attachments, and rotary tables.
  • Knowledge of properties and machinability of various metals and synthetic materials.
  • Knowledge of trade mathematics including plane geometry and trigonometric functions.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety standards and shop procedures
  • Skill in setting up and operating a variety of machine tools
  • Skill in CNC programming, troubleshooting, and editing
  • Skill in interpreting blueprints and technical documentation
  • Skill in using precision measurement instruments including: Vernier calipers Micrometers (inside, outside, depth) Height gauges Dial indicators Surface gauges Gauge blocks Optical and mechanical comparators Go/No-Go gauges

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, repair, and rebuild mechanical components to precise specifications.
  • Set up and operate conventional machine tools including lathes, boring mills, milling machines (vertical, horizontal, universal), grinders, shapers, planers, thread cutters, and radial drills.
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machinery; proof initial parts; edit programs for optimization and efficiency.
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, attachments, coolants, and machine speeds for various materials and job requirements.
  • Maintain required dimensional tolerances through precise alignment, setup, and machining practices.
  • Interpret blueprints, program readouts, technical directives, and work orders.
  • Establish missing tolerances where necessary and determine machining sequences.
  • Machine complex configurations, compound angles, and unusual surface geometries using improvised or customized setups when required.
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments.
  • Debug and correct CNC programs developed by others.
  • Apply advanced shop mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry, to calculate dimensions, angles, and machining parameters.
  • Follow all applicable safety regulations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
