The role of Machinist I involves adhering to all company HSEQ processes and procedures, reviewing and comprehending part drawings, and performing basic operation of turning and milling equipment for simple, non-critical tasks. Responsibilities include operating a 3-Jaw or 4-Jaw “Independent Chuck,” , band saw, and drill press, polishing various valve parts to manufacturer specifications, and roughing out in-house fabricated parts. The role also requires machining flanges to within ASME 16.50 specifications, drilling and tapping holes, and having knowledge of basic measuring tools such as calipers, dial indicators, tape measures, and thread gauges. Additionally, there is an introductory learning component for various measuring instruments, including micrometers, last word indicators, PMI guns,, thread measurement devices, and veneers.
