About The Position

The role involves the manufacturing of rotating jet engine components, working with unique aerospace alloys on some of the latest CNC machines and tooling in a clean, air-conditioned facility. Work will involve creating hardware involving the use of measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and special purpose gauges among others. Daily activities include the manufacturing production of GE Aerospace’s jet engine parts, operating large machinery, and following internal processes to perform machining tasks. Work will be performed both individually and within a team setting with the goal of ensuring machined parts and components are produced in accordance with GE Aerospace’s safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Commitment to workplace safety (of both self and others)
  • Commitment to quality and integrity of work performed
  • Ability to understand basic manufacturing and machining terminology / concepts with the objective of eventually learning how to operate machines or tooling independently.
  • Ability to understand and learn basic geometric dimensioning, tolerancing, and / or programming criteria for machined parts production.
  • Ability to understand and learn how to set-up and extract both machined parts and machine tooling components.
  • Has limited prior exposure to working on simpler tasks, equipment, or machines under close supervision.
  • Maintains the ability to work on simpler, automated machines.
  • Develop jet engine parts that are commonly produced within the facility.
  • Ability to work with simple tools and gauges to assist in the accurate production, setup, and inspection of produced parts.
  • Can learn how to recognize common issues, but rely closely on the guidance of team leads, mentors, or trainers to resolve problems.
  • Ability to learn how to understand and interpret process sheets for machined parts production.
  • Does not deviate from process sheet guidance for machined parts production.
  • Defers to the team lead, mentor, or trainer with issues or challenges arise with parts production machinery, tooling, gauges, or processes.
  • Understands the importance of quality, but has limited role in ensuring standards are developed or measured properly.
  • Able to understand and learn how to inspect basic parts using the proper measuring devices.
  • Able to understand and learn how to verify proper tooling to utilize based on the task at hand.
  • Understand the importance of systematically following procedures to identify defects for produced parts, machinery, tools, or measuring equipment.
  • No formal supervisory responsibility expectations are required and primarily focuses on on-the-job learning within an assigned machined parts production work cell.
  • Expected to learn and develop via mentors, teammates, and on-the-job training through repetition of machined parts production.
  • Requires direct supervision by the team lead, trainer, or mentor along with detailed instructions for all machined parts production tasks.
  • Does not work autonomously on machined parts production.
  • Expected and able to follow step-by-step instructions and processes, whether documented or from team lead, mentor, or trainer.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
