About The Position

Quad is seeking a Machinist Apprentice for our Lomira, Wisconsin plant location. This Registered Apprenticeship is within our Quad Metal Works (QMW) Department. This is a minimum of a 4-year Apprenticeship that combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction one-day per week at an approved technical college. Upon successful completion of the program, employees will receive a State of Wisconsin Certificate of Apprenticeship. While in the QMW Shop, Machinist Apprentice will be responsible for assisting Journey-Level Machinists, while learning all facets of the QMW Machine Shop, following Quad’s Apprenticeship structure in compliance with State and/or Federal rules and regulations. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, is required.
  • Strong verbal and written comprehension, with the ability to thrive in a team environment and work well under supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly in a variety of industrial environments, including heights up to 50 feet, is essential.
  • Apprentices will be required to provide own set of basic hand tools within the first 30 days of the apprenticeship, if selected.

Nice To Haves

  • Good Math skills and basic computer skills are highly desirable.
  • Experience/exposure in an Advanced Manufacturing environment or recent Skilled Trade-related classes, is preferred.
  • Solid Mechanical background is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Journey-Level Machinists
  • Learning all facets of the QMW Machine Shop
  • Precision measurement and inspection of Manual and CNC machines.
  • Milling, turning, grinding, metallurgy, material testing and parts assembly.
  • Cut-off machine operation.
