  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
  • 3–7+ years of experience in precision wire EDM and grinding for mold/die or high-accuracy components
  • Proven ability to hold ≤ ±1 µm features; experience with sub-micron or nanometer-class positioning
  • Expertise machining hard metals such as carbide, H13, M1, and powder-metal steels
  • Proficiency in CAM programming, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Hands-on experience with metrology tools, including CMMs and laser micrometry
  • Ability to read mold and tooling drawings and understand injection molding components
  • Knowledge of fixture design, thermal management, and precision workholding

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Moldflow analysis
  • Sinker EDM experience
  • Basic CNC milling and grinding experience

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate machining equipment to achieve tolerances of ≤ ±1 µm
  • Select grinding wheels, electrodes, wire types, and flushing strategies to optimize surface finish and cycle time
  • Create and refine CAM programs using ESPRIT, G-code, and 3D CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor, NanoCam)
  • Develop thermal stability processes, including fixture design and temperature compensation
  • Collaborate with mold and die designers to adjust prints for true position and material shrinkage
  • Build and qualify grinding wheels, electrodes, and fixtures for precision machining applications
  • Perform final inspections using CMMs, laser micrometers, air gauges, and profilometers
  • Implement SPC/CPK, corrective actions, and standard work procedures
  • Lead DOE and Kaizen initiatives to improve tolerance capability and reduce machining cycle time
  • Support toolroom operations for new builds, engineering change notices (ECNs), and urgent repairs
