Machinery & Mechanical Supervisor Job Summary The Marathon Los Angeles Refinery located in Carson/Wilmington California has an opening for a Machinery & Mechanical Supervisor. This position will supervise and lead maintenance work group typically of union-represented crafts. This position will be responsible for safe and efficient execution of maintenance work in an environmentally compliant manner. The schedule for the position is Monday-Thursday 10 hours days 6 AM- 4:30 PM, answer after calls 2-3 times a week normally concerns can be handled over the phone and support TAR and outages 1-2 times a year.

Requirements

  • Must have High school diploma or GED. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of industrial machinery maintenance experience in a refinery or petrochemical facility.
  • Must be able to read and understand equipment manuals, procedures and schematics to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. (MPC determines valid status.)
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
  • Travel Requirement is 5% or less.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic principles required to repair centrifugal pumps and reciprocating and centrifugal compressors is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical machinery within refinery to minimize downtime, maximize reliability and ensure compliance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise craft work group to ensure maintenance work is efficiently executed without incident in an environmentally compliant manner.
  • Supervise and lead work group.
  • Accountable for fair and uniform application of policies and procedures.
  • Responsible to meet all that is applicable to the role of our routine maintenance foremen.
  • Ensure assigned craft personnel are adequately trained for their job assignment.
  • Identify training needs and participate in development of training programs for craft skill pool.
  • Maintain visible and active field presence to promote safe working environment and ensure adherence to safe work practices.
  • Assist in setting schedules.
  • Monitor and appraises progress to ensure productivity, work quality and schedule adherence.
  • Ensure team understands work scope and performance expectations.
  • Assist with troubleshooting.
  • Ensure work orders are satisfactorily completed and properly closed out.
  • Promote proactive reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) focus.
  • Communicate daily activities related to manpower, accomplishments and problem areas to management.
  • Participate in audits and near-miss/incident investigations.
  • Follow-up on safety issues until closure.
  • Active member of safety committee.
  • Coordinate with planning and scheduling to ensure appropriateness of job packages.
  • Ensure materials used comply with current engineering standards.
  • Identify and resolve delays that would prevent schedule attainment.
  • Participate in maintenance cost control including challenging need for discretionary work.
  • Collaborate with other supervisors, planning & scheduling and reliability teams to develop repair strategies and maintain reliability of refinery plant mechanical equipment in support of continuous operations.
  • Maintain current, accurate and complete records for assigned area.
