JOB SUMMARY This is a working lead position Overseeing the crew Ensuring the safety of the crew by giving regular training Ensuring the quality and quantity of the work put out by the shop Managing the daily work of the shop Assisting machinists Reporting to shop managers Properly sets up and machines parts using 3, 4, or 5-Axis CNC Mills. Follows setup up sheets, drawings, and instructions from CNC Programmers and/or supervisors to prove out parts that meet drawing and specification requirements. Must understand the working principles and applications of CNC Machines. SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES - Essential Functions (Other duties and projects may be assigned or requested.) Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Prepares work to be accomplished per setup sheets, drawings, parts lists, and static plans. Gathers materials, tools, and work holding as defined/needed. Aligns and secures work holding (e.g., vises, fixtures, shop aids, etc.) per setup sheet/instructions. Uses indicators, probes, edge finders, etc. as needed to properly locate work holding and parts. Establishes part origins, tool length offsets, and compensations as required. Uses basic math to adjust work offsets, tool length, and diameter offsets if needed. Loads and unloads materials/parts on the CNC machine and secures them using different work holding techniques. Safely changes tools following instructions and/or static plans. Provides feedback to CNC Programmer/s to improve part quality, efficiency, and finish. Does not make changes to part program without authorization/notification of CNC Programmer/s. Does first piece and in-process inspections using Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gauges, Thread-Gauges, Pin Gauges, etc. to ensure parts meets dimensional requirements. Documents actions by stamping/completing work orders. Keeps work area clean and organized. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and reports issues if needed. Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications. Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Requirements

  • Position must be filled with experienced candidates (3+ years)
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under rush delivery situations
  • Accurately read and interpret drawings, setup sheets, and static plans.
  • Ability to use inspection tools (e.g., Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gauges, Thread Gauges, Pin Gauges, etc.)
  • Finishing skills: Deburring, Blending
  • Good verbal and visual communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team and autonomously.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. For positions at an ITAR facility, must have U.S. Citizenship or hold Permanent Resident status.
