About The Position

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Machine Operator at our York, PA location. The Machine Operator sets up and operates fabricating machines such as brake presses and punch presses that cut, shape, and bend aluminum pieces by operating and adjusting equipment to meet customer specifications and requirements. This is a 2nd Shift working from 3pm to 11pm.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience is required
  • 1 to 3 years of machine operation in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Flexible and driven to meet tight deadlines, handle multiple projects and prioritize them appropriately
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available
  • Must have regular attendance

Responsibilities

  • Reviews press assignments and job duties from shop foreman or supervisor.
  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Sets stop of guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
  • Positions workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.
  • Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine.
  • Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Ensures that the first and last pieces of fabricated material are inspected for quality purposes.
  • Packs completed pieces for shipment per customer specifications.
  • Completes all paperwork associated with fabricated pieces.
  • Weighs scrap material before depositing the materials in appropriate containers.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance which can include oiling the machine, dies, or workpieces.
  • Assists other machine operators as needed. This can include machine set-ups, stacking, marking, and packing finished work pieces.
  • Follows and adheres to all safety rules and company policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
