The Arab, AL site was established in 2007 and joined the Orchid team in 2012. Our 70,000 square foot facility employees approximately 200 team members. We focus primarily on advanced machining of complex instruments for the large joint, spine and trauma markets. Our key products are instruments, implants, and trials. The Machine Operator position contributes to the production of medical devices by operating multi axis CNC machines. They are responsible for running multiple and varying CNC machines simultaneously, such as Mills, Lathes and EDMs. The Machine Operator reports directly to the area Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Or Equivalent (Preferred)
  • 1+ Years of Experience Operating Machining Equipment in a Manufacturing Environment (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic machining functions to produce parts.
  • Operates multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Monitors the machine to ensure proper program performance.
  • Completes shop work orders, inspection documentation, and daily maintenance sheets.
  • Makes off sets and adjustments to machines with moderate supervision.
  • Advocates for the health and safety of self, co-workers, customers, and the community.
  • Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Completes all required training.
  • Set up jobs and operate conventional, special-purpose and computerized numerical control (CNC) machines to fabricate metallic parts
  • Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, grinders and tooling pre-setter.
  • Load programs into CNC machine and execute program to accurately machine parts to meet customer specifications.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and make off sets and adjustments to machines with moderate supervision.
  • Grinding/Buffing of parts.
  • Checking parts on CMM.
  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • Confer with engineers, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Use hand truck, pallet jack, carts to safely transport product.
  • Maintain work area, tools and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
  • Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material and any unusual conditions to the department supervisor or lead.
  • Completes shop work orders, inspection documentation, and daily maintenance sheets.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives.
