About The Position

The CNC Plate Roll Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC-controlled plate rolling machines to form heavy plate into shells, cylinders, and cones according to engineered drawings and specifications. This position supports fabrication and pressure vessel manufacturing and requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must pass company administered measuring tape test
  • 2+ years of experience operating CNC plate roll or heavy fabrication equipment preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and teamwork.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret fabrication drawings, understand work instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation in English required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (8+ hours)
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. independently
  • Must pass initial and ongoing physical or occupational health screenings (e.g., lifting assessment, vision test, hearing test, fitness for duty test, etc.)
  • Must be able to wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual handling of materials required
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to tolerate noise, heat, and dust in a manufacturing environment
  • Visual acuity to read measuring tools, drawings, and detect quality defects

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC plate roll machines to form carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy plate material
  • Roll plate into shells, cylinders, and cones to specified diameters, radii, and tolerances
  • Load, position, and secure plate material using overhead cranes and lifting devices
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and CNC programs
  • Input, adjust, and verify CNC parameters such as thickness, radius, and material properties
  • Perform trial rolls and make adjustments to achieve accuracy and roundness
  • Measure rolled components using tape measures, calipers, and other precision tools
  • Inspect parts for defects, flat spots, alignment, and surface condition
  • Perform basic machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and housekeeping
  • Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures
  • Accurately complete production reports and travelers
