About The Position

The M&A Analyst will play a key role in supporting the Vice President of Business Development across all facets of H2O America’s growth strategy. This position is responsible for developing comprehensive financial models, conducting valuation analyses, and assisting in transactional due diligence. The Analyst will actively research acquisition and growth opportunities, contribute to high-level presentations, and support special projects requested by senior management. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Business Development, this individual will be integral to advancing the company’s growth objectives.

Requirements

  • Advanced financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
  • Deep understanding of financial statements, including Income Statement and Balance Sheet.
  • Professional, dependable, and trustworthy, with a cooperative attitude and high degree of integrity.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter and effective team player.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics is required.
  • 3+ of professional-level financial experience.
  • Superior working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record to operate a company vehicle

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with valuation methodologies, accounting principles, and utility ratemaking economics (preferred).
  • Experience with the full life cycle of M&A transactions, from target identification through closing.
  • Knowledge and experience with regulated utilities is desirable.
  • Prior Investment Banking or transactional M&A experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Build and present complex financial models to evaluate potential business transactions, including economic alliances, mergers, acquisitions, capital projects, and divestitures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and document financial modeling assumptions.
  • Research acquisition opportunities using data from regulatory bodies, government entities, and financial markets.
  • Track industry trends, analyze the competitive landscape, and identify new market opportunities.
  • Assist with acquisition due diligence to identify transaction risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Create presentations and documentation regarding growth initiatives for state leadership and senior management to support informed investment decisions.
  • Provide financial analysis, research, and presentations to support the identification, evaluation, and execution of growth opportunities for H2O America.
  • Assist in preparing board presentations, financial presentations, new business opportunity analyses, acquisition analyses, industry and peer group comparisons, and other special projects as requested by senior management.
