About The Position

RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company with 185,000 employees, is seeking a driven and talented individual contributor to join their DevSecOps Team as a Jira Administrator for the Lower Tier Air & Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) program. In this role, the administrator will collaborate closely with the LTAMDS program to develop and implement solutions across multiple Jira servers, working with the Pipeline team to establish solutions within a shared server environment. The Department's mission is to provide world-class Radar Software for military systems, utilizing an Agile Scrum process for continuous design, coding, integration, and testing. This is a full-time, on-site position in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience with Jira in configuring workflows, permissions, and issue types to meet specific project requirements
  • Experience with Jira automation features, including scripting languages like Groovy (for ScriptRunner) or JavaScript
  • Experience with Software Development Lifecycle processes (specifically SW code/test/review) for scripting languages
  • Experience with Jira Dashboards and Structure plugin
  • Experience with Configuration Management (CM) tools (ClearCase, Git, GitLab, etc)
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum principles to support workflows and team processes in Jira
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U. S. government issued Secret security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Analytical thinking to troubleshoot and resolve problems in Jira configurations or integrations.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Experience managing multiple Jira instances, especially in complex environments.
  • Understanding of project management principles to align Jira configurations with organizational goals.
  • Understanding Agile/Scrum principles to configure Jira projects and workflows that support iterative development.
  • Ability to adjust Jira to match the needs of Agile teams (e.g., sprints, kanban boards, backlog grooming).
  • Ability to create and manage custom scripts and automation rules to enhance Jira functionality.
  • Experience integrating Jira with other tools (e.g., Confluence, Bitbucket, Jenkins, GitLab, or other DevOps tools).
  • Experience with APIs for building custom integrations.
  • A quick thinker who can handle high-pressure scenarios and deliver results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly language.
  • Willingness to work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, project managers, and system administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Managing user accounts and permissions, including handling onboarding and offboarding to EIM/AD groups.
  • Ensuring alignment and standardization across all Jira projects, both unclassified and on the IS.
  • Regular maintenance to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
  • Providing direct user support, answering questions, resolving issues, and offering training as needed or requested.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining workflows, permissions, and project structures to meet LTAMDS-specific requirements.
  • Assisting with system upgrades to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
  • Managing integrations with other pipelines and tools, such as Confluence, GitLab, and others.
  • Implementing necessary customizations and addressing enhancement requests to improve system functionality including use of plugins: Structure, Project Configurator, ScriptRunner, JSU Automation.
  • Creating and maintaining dashboards, reports, and queries to meet reporting needs and provide actionable insights.
  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and user guides.
  • Monitoring system performance and usage to proactively address potential issues.
  • Creating and maintaining scripts to automate processes or enhance functionality where needed
  • When approved, refactor current implementations that don’t adhere to our software development best practices
