About The Position

The Alexander Dawson School seeks a full-time, hourly assistant teacher to work with our Lower School Learning Support Team. This position works with a team of Lower School educators to provide “right there” support, helping to meet the differentiated needs of students. The candidate will provide lead teacher support in classroom management and small-group instruction. Requirements

  • Minimum three years of teaching experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field required
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students
  • A strong awareness of current brain research related to the use of technology

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with lead teachers on the assigned grade-level team
  • Provide student support during lessons
  • Serve in a substitute teacher role as needed
  • Assist with classroom prep and clerical support (copying, bulletin boards, material preparation, etc.)
  • Assist lead teachers in classroom management and encouraging acceptable behavior
  • Assist lead teachers with taking attendance, correcting papers, and organizing instructional materials
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch time, and/or carpool.
  • Provide 1:1 student support and/or tutoring
