Friends’ Central School Overview Friends’ Central School is an independent, coeducational Quaker day school founded in 1845 and serving approximately 880 students in Nursery through grade 12. Located in the Philadelphia suburbs, the School has two campuses. The Middle & Upper Schools are located just outside of West Philadelphia in Wynnewood, and the Lower School is on our Old Gulph Road campus in the heart of Wynnewood. Interim Lower School Nurse Friends’ Central School seeks a full time, interim, Nurse for our Lower School reporting to the Lower School Principal and supervised by the Director of Student Support Services. The interim Lower School Nurse is responsible for supporting the physical health and well-being of students through high-quality and comprehensive nursing care and in collaboration with faculty and families. The nurse supports student success and wellness through appropriate care, health assessments, first aid, medication administration, and management of chronic conditions.

Requirements

  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or School Nurse Certification preferred
  • Experience working with elementary-age students
  • Expertise in child health and school-based care
  • Ability to partner empathetically and communicate effectively with caregivers and colleagues

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care and promote student health and safety throughout the school day
  • Develop individualized care plans in partnership with families and providers
  • Maintain accurate health records and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Respond to medical emergencies promptly and professionally
  • Communicate with families in a timely, supportive, professional manner that is age appropriate for the student and family needs
