About The Position

River Oaks Baptist School is seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to join our team as a Lower School Teacher Assistant beginning August 2026. The Teacher Assistant supports the lead grade-level teacher in all aspects of teaching approximately 18 students in self-contained classrooms. In Kindergarten, the Teacher Assistant supports one classroom; in first grade, the Teacher Assistant rotates among five classrooms. Content areas include language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and character development. Each Lower School Teacher Assistant is an integral part of the grade-level team that plans and works closely together. Lower School special area teachers provide instruction in art, Bible, computer, library, music, Spanish, theater, and makerspace. This position reports to the Head of Lower School. All Lower School faculty are supported by an experienced divisional team devoted to developing both students and faculty, including a counselor, learning specialists, reading specialists, instructional coaches, a dean of students, an assistant division head, a division head, the Associate Head of School for Academics, and the Associate Head of School for Student Support. Requirements

  • A vibrant Christian faith and a desire to work in a Christian environment
  • A bachelor's degree
  • Teaching certification for the grade-level applying
  • Successful completion of background checks and verification

Nice To Haves

  • Two years’ full-time teaching or teaching assistant experience preferred
