About The Position

In the absence of the classroom teacher, the Long-Term Substitute provides instruction, encourages student progress, and manages the learning environment. This position ensures continuity of learning by maintaining established routines, delivering engaging lessons, and fostering a safe and positive classroom atmosphere.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree required.
Massachusetts Licensure preferred.
Proficiency in English (oral and written).
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to collaborate with school staff and administration.
Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred.
Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
Ability to create engaging lesson plans aligned with student needs.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt to different grade levels and subject areas.
Demonstrated professionalism and reliability.
Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive student and staff relationships.
Commitment to creating an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow school policies.

Responsibilities

Maintain established routines and procedures of the assigned school and classroom.
Create and deliver lesson plans or follow those outlined by the absent teacher.
Implement instructional strategies that promote quality academic and social development.
Maintain discipline and classroom control in accordance with district policies.
Create a learning environment conducive to growth, maturity, and student interests.
Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations.
Demonstrate professional practices in teaching and classroom management.
Model correct use of oral and written language.
Protect school records, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Report student injuries, illnesses, accidents, and disciplinary issues promptly.
Assign reasonable tasks and homework to support learning goals.
Remain at school during the entire day unless excused by administration.
Maintain punctuality, reliability, and professional appearance.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or designated representative.
