About The Position

Southwest Christian School is looking for strong candidates to join our team who want to serve as an extension of regular classroom teachers and provide temporary support for short and occasionally, long-term leave. The ideal substitute teacher should demonstrate the ability to manage a classroom, can follow directions and lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher, and provide consistent and clear direction for the students. The upcoming need is for a long-term substitute teacher for Second Grade. The position is 5 days per week, beginning in April 2026 and will possibly last through the end of the school year (May 2026). All SCS employees are expected to demonstrate patience, humility, integrity, and kindness while performing the day-to-day duties of the role and to prayerfully work with administration, faculty, students, and families to develop and maintain a school which is distinctively Christian, academically excellent, and globally minded.

Requirements

  • Is deeply committed to a consistent daily walk with our Savior, Jesus Christ through prayer, devotional study, and church membership
  • Demonstrates the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6)
  • Recognizes the role of the parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and commits to be a partner in that endeavor
  • Possesses the ability to work gracefully with parents, students, and other school staff to support our unified and successful educational program
  • Cooperates with administrators and other school leadership to follow policies and procedures as they pertain to the operation of School activities
  • Demonstrates the ability to accept and carry out responsibilities and make competent, professional decisions
  • Maintains a professional personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and is in accordance with school policy
