About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our long-term care team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality nursing care to residents, promoting their comfort, dignity, and overall well-being. GCHS boasts a 25-bed critical access hospital, 16-bed Long Term Care Unit, and 2 Family Practice Clinics located in Tribune and neighboring Sharon Springs in Wallace County. Responsibilities

  • Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments and completes assessments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
  • Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient.
  • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
  • Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
  • Responds to situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
  • Assists aides on the floor in other direct patient/resident care activities when needed.
  • Utilizes the EMR appropriately, documenting necessary patient information in appropriate areas in a timely manner.
