About you and this role: Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Technician located in our Lone Star Operations and is proud to operate in Deer Park, TX . The site operates an emulsion reactor which produces more than twenty polymer products. These products are sold into the coatings, building and construction, paper, textiles, and adhesives markets. We are looking for top-caliber, technically capable Logistics Technicians who embrace change, adapt quickly, make decisions rapidly, possess self-confidence and are lifelong learners. These positions require a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship. Site logistics technicians control the movement, storage, and shipping of raw materials and finished products, and operations of several subsidiary systems. Technicians may also be required to cross-train and certify on the Lone Star laboratory duties and or other areas deemed necessary by the plant. In this role, you will be using your prior related experience, job-related training, or vocational training to complete routine activities. You will need to have basic technical or administrative skills to follow the established and approved work processes. You will need to understand how these assigned duties relate to other jobs within your workgroup and be able to exchange basic technical information with other team members.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Current, valid US driver’s license.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
  • No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
  • Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator (must be able to pass a fit test) and harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.
  • Must be willing and able to perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting with or without an accommodation.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and work at heights with or without an accommodation.
  • Should be able to enter confined spaces such as tanks, pits, and vessels.
  • Must be able to work in tight or closed-in spaces with or without an accommodation.

  • This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.
  • Required be able to work outdoors in the plant in all types of weather, climb stairs and ladders, walk and be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Able to meet physical requirements for the emergency response team.
  • Required to drive a fork truck and yard goat/mule

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Associate's degree and or a Process Technology Certification.
  • 3 or more years of Military experience with a technical specialty in lieu of a degree.
  • Multitasking: The ability to manage multiple operational responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining safety, accuracy, and compliance. In this role, multitasking includes coordinating loading and unloading activities, monitoring tank transfers and control systems, completing SAP transactions, performing routine maintenance, and responding to operational changes or priorities during a shift without compromising safety or quality.
  • Troubleshooting: The ability to identify, analyze, and resolve mechanical, process, or system-related issues within the plant. This includes diagnosing equipment or process deviations, responding to abnormal operating conditions, addressing alarms, clearing line blockages, resolving transfer or loading issues, and taking corrective action in accordance with operating disciplines, safety procedures, and permit requirements.
  • Communication (Written & Verbal): The ability to clearly and accurately exchange information with a wide range of stakeholders. Verbal communication is required for shift handoffs, coordinating with operators, maintenance, engineers, schedulers, and vendors, issuing Safe Work Permits, and responding during emergencies. Written communication includes completing SAP entries, electronic logbooks, lab documentation, permits, and required operational paperwork.
  • Collaboration: The ability to work effectively within a team-based manufacturing and logistics environment. This role requires close coordination with process operators, maintenance teams, engineers, lab technicians, supervisors, schedulers, and external vendors to ensure safe product movement, quality control, maintenance execution, and achievement of department and site objectives.
  • Initiative: The ability to proactively take ownership of tasks and identify opportunities for improvement without constant supervision. In this role, initiative includes improving operating disciplines, identifying and mitigating hazards, supporting special projects, assisting with training and cross-training efforts, responding effectively during abnormal or crisis situations, and contributing to continuous improvement of safe and efficient operations.
  • Positive Attitude: The ability to remain engaged, adaptable, and safety-focused in a physically demanding and high-responsibility plant environment. A positive attitude supports teamwork, willingness to learn and cross-train (including laboratory duties), effective response to changing priorities, and consistent performance during shift work, outdoor conditions, and emergency or high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

  • Product loading of railcars, tank trucks, isotainers, and flexitanks (bladder tanks)
  • Product unloading hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Product storage operations; hose switching station operations; scale house operations; railcar cleaning.
  • Enters Load In, Load Complete, and Shipment Complete in SAP for all shipments.
  • Completes Tank transfers, switching and monitoring.
  • Performs Operator maintenance duties including instrument lead clearing, small gasket change outs and line unplugging.
  • Performs incidental maintenance (including changing out pumps and valves)
  • Lift hoses, bolt flanges and operate valves and similar equipment including the proper clearing and isolation of equipment.
  • Offload packaged raw materials in the warehouse; date and put away raw materials in the warehouse; rotate raw materials in the warehouse; label lines; paint and clean as time permits.
  • Completes filter/strainer changes as required.
  • Prepares equipment for maintenance (including isolation of energy sources, line and equipment opening).
  • Follow the MPWP, and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures and practices.
  • Issues Safe Work Permits for all types of unit maintenance.
  • Performing routine operation of basic control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures and flow rates and transfer of products.
  • Create and improve operating disciplines for safe and efficient operations.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve technical issues within the plant.
  • Use electronic tools such as LIMS, CDS, SAP, Electronic Logbook, and MTL, as required.
  • Effectively work in a team environment.
  • Work with engineers, process operators, supervisors, schedulers, maintenance, and lab technicians.
  • Obtain and process product samples to ensure quality control.
  • Fill out and process necessary paperwork pertinent to the job.
  • Perform the duties associated with the Lone Star laboratory.
  • Operate pumps, valves, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Be able to identify and mitigate any possible hazards that may arise.
  • Train new distribution operators and educate team members.
  • Participate and plan special projects as needed.
  • Participate and lead department teams for the purpose of meeting department/company milestones and goals.
  • Performs crisis response activities.
  • Work with schedulers & vendors to process returns and resolve shipping issues.
