About The Position

Under general supervision, the Locksmith installs, repairs, modifies, and opens a variety of locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED required;
  • Three (3) years progressively responsible experience, typically acquired through on-the-job training or through a formal apprenticeship training program, or equivalent training and experience
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment common to the locksmith trade
  • Effective communication and customer service skills to act responsively to customer inquiries and requests, and escalate the more difficult matters appropriately
  • Security clearance may be required at some locations
  • GSA Safe & Vault Technician Certification may be required.
  • Valid driver’s license required for this position at most locations.

Responsibilities

  • Examines locking mechanisms and installs new units.
  • Disassembles unit and replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts.
  • Repairs parts by filing, drilling, chiseling and grinding.
  • Opens door locks by moving lock pick in cylinder or opening safe locks by listening to lock sounds, or drilling.
  • Makes new or duplicate keys, using key cutting machine
  • Changes combinations by inserting new or repaired tumblers into lock.
  • Establishes keying systems for buildings
  • Install and repair panic hardware
  • Frequent travel between facilities.
  • Complies with PRIDE’s safety program and adheres to proper safety practices
  • Other duties as assigned.
