About The Position

Under general supervision, the Locksmith installs, repairs, modifies, and opens a variety of locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults.

Requirements

High School diploma, GED required;
Three (3) years progressively responsible experience, typically acquired through on-the-job training or through a formal apprenticeship training program, or equivalent training and experience
Basic math and computer skills
Knowledge of tools and equipment common to the locksmith trade
Effective communication and customer service skills to act responsively to customer inquiries and requests, and escalate the more difficult matters appropriately
Security clearance may be required at some locations
GSA Safe & Vault Technician Certification may be required.
Valid driver’s license required for this position at most locations.

Responsibilities

Examines locking mechanisms and installs new units.
Disassembles unit and replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts.
Repairs parts by filing, drilling, chiseling and grinding.
Opens door locks by moving lock pick in cylinder or opening safe locks by listening to lock sounds, or drilling.
Makes new or duplicate keys, using key cutting machine
Changes combinations by inserting new or repaired tumblers into lock.
Establishes keying systems for buildings
Install and repair panic hardware
Frequent travel between facilities.
Complies with PRIDE’s safety program and adheres to proper safety practices
Other duties as assigned.
