Locksmith or Locksmith Apprentice Chatham University seeks applications for a Locksmith position. The Locksmith will perform skilled locksmith trade-work for all University buildings and structures. All work is subject to routine inspection and compliance with city, state, and county regulations. Apprentice: Applicants who do not meet the qualifications for Locksmith will be considered for Apprenticeship. Apprentices have educational obligations, provided at no charge, and are expected to become Locksmiths. Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the locksmith field.
  • Must be a certified locksmith.
  • Skilled in the use of all related locksmith tools and able to set up key systems for entire buildings.
  • Possess the skills and abilities to perform general carpentry duties needed to repair and or replace doors and windows to full operating function.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and related specifications.
  • Must have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire keying system or systems for the Shadyside campus.
  • Must be able to provide a proprietary and confidential key/lock program for all buildings.
  • Maintain the working operation of all doors, windows and related hardware as needed.
  • Perform all duties associated with the securing of all facilities owned and operated by the university.
  • Perform all duties related to cutting keys, re-pinning tumblers and resetting electronic locking systems as needed.
  • Perform work to assist other trades as needed.
  • Provide additional assistance while working out of your classification as needed to assist in campus emergencies or events.
