The NBCUniversal Academic Year internship program offers students the opportunity to engage in real projects, experience a collaborative culture, and receive support for professional growth over two full semesters. NBCUniversal Local, the company's local media division, serves English and Spanish-speaking and bilingual audiences across 31 U.S. markets and Puerto Rico. It delivers local sports, news, weather, consumer and investigative reporting, and lifestyle entertainment across various platforms including linear, streaming, OTT, digital web, mobile, audio, and cable. This division comprises the NBC Owned Television Stations, the NBC Sports Regional Networks, and the Telemundo Station Group, all working collaboratively to keep local audiences informed anytime and anywhere.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027).
  • Must not be a December 2026 graduate.
  • Must have a current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
  • Must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027.
  • Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
  • Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g., F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
  • Must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Class standing of junior or above.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • A background in Journalism, Communications, Advertising, Production, Marketing, or related fields.
  • Strong interest in the media industry.
  • Interest and experience in video editing using Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro X.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting producers with planning, guest booking, and pre-production for LXTV.
  • Assisting crew members on set for LXTV productions.
  • Editing segments for various platforms for LXTV.
  • Assisting with music cue sheets, talent and location releases, and closed captioning for LXTV.
  • Engaging and assisting with all social media platforms for LXTV.
  • Working with the digital Product & Technology team for Digital Agile.
  • Gaining in-depth exposure to the development and release of digital products across multiple platforms (Desktop, MobileWeb, OTT, Mobile Apps) for Digital Agile.
  • Receiving a high-level introduction to Agile Project Management for Local News for Digital Agile.
  • Engaging in diverse projects involving NBC and Telemundo marketers from local stations and streaming channels across the country for NBCU Local HQ Marketing.
  • Preparing and distributing briefs and campaign documents for major initiatives and premieres for NBCU Local HQ Marketing.
  • Facilitating product launches for NBCU Local HQ Marketing.
  • Organizing streaming channel special events for NBCU Local HQ Marketing.
  • Providing support for voter registration efforts for NBCU Local HQ Marketing.
  • Collaborating on marketing initiatives for NBCU Local HQ Marketing.
  • Contributing to the company's broader social responsibility endeavors for NBCU Local HQ Marketing.
