About The Position

Are you passionate about sports and ready to lead sales for one of Nashville's most exciting partnerships? WNPX, the E.W. Scripps station in Nashville, Tennessee, is seeking a Local Sales Manager for Scripps Sports who will spearhead sales efforts for the Nashville Predators as the official broadcast partner on ION and WNPX-TV/WTVF Channel 5. You'll collaborate with our local sales team to help businesses realize growth opportunities by reaching customers through compelling multi-platform advertising solutions involving Scripps Sports assets. You'll be at the intersection of sports, sales, and strategy—helping clients connect with passionate hockey fans and sports enthusiasts across broadcast television, OTT video, social media, digital platforms, and sports sponsorships.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
  • Generally, 8+ years of experience in related field preferred
  • Prior managerial experience preferred
  • Experience in Sports Business Sales on League, Team, or Media side with a proven track record exceeding revenue goals
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Sr. Director, Sales (DOS) and other sales managers and departments to accomplish the objectives of the station with regard to Scripps Sports team sales and sponsorships.
  • Help in negotiating ratings, rates and budgets for sports with local station leadership.
  • Develop new business for station utilizing and maximizing all station platforms including but not limited to broadcast, digital, mobile, and sponsorships.
  • Assist AE's on key client sales calls for sports sponsorships.
  • Develop working knowledge of local sports landscapes and leagues.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales and Sales Managers to train, develop and motivate the local sales team so that revenue goals are achieved for sports budgets.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with outside vendors.
  • Interface with traffic systems and personnel to ensure efficient management of airtime inventory.
  • Know the strengths and weaknesses of the competing stations, other advertising mediums and position the station accordingly.
  • Effectively forecast sports sales revenue and manage department expenses so that financial goals are achieved.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, which may include entertaining prospective and existing clients, attending sporting events or other associated functions.
  • Collaborate with Scripps sr director sports revenue to support the local station.
