About The Position

Sharonview Credit Union is seeking an experienced Loan Underwriting Manager to lead our underwriting operations and help deliver competitive, member-focused lending solutions while maintaining exceptional credit quality. This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll shape underwriting strategy, develop talent, and partner across the organization to drive performance, efficiency, and outstanding member experiences. What You’ll Do As the Underwriting Manager, you will lead the credit union’s underwriting function across multiple loan products while ensuring strong risk management and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee underwriting for Auto, RV, Boat, Motorcycle, Home Equity, Unsecured, and Residential Mortgage loans
  • Design, implement, and monitor individual and team performance metrics; report outcomes to senior lending leadership
  • Develop and optimize underwriting processes to drive productivity, efficiency, and exceptional service delivery
  • Ensure all loan decisions align with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Manage and monitor the credit union’s risk profile while identifying opportunities for responsible portfolio growth
  • Analyze loan portfolio performance to balance risk and business opportunity
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships across departments and with external stakeholders
  • Oversee development and delivery of training programs to keep staff current on regulatory, procedural, and system changes
  • Act as a key point of contact during internal and external audits
  • Resolve escalated operational issues, ensuring a high level of service for both members and employees
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of underwriters to foster engagement, accountability, and expertise
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback, coaching, and career development support
  • Evaluate team performance and implement improvements to enhance productivity and compliance
  • Interview, hire, onboard, and train new employees
  • Plan, assign, and direct work to meet departmental goals
  • Address employee concerns and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure accurate and timely approval of employee timecards
  • Promote a culture of service excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
