About The Position

Great Livin' in Albuquerque, NM is actively seeking a reliable full-time or part-time Living Support / Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support residential clients with disabilities in leading self-directed, independent, meaningful lives. The company was founded in 2008 and is dedicated and passionate about the well-being of people living with intellectual disabilities. Great Livin' has eight supported-living homes staffed to help residents live their best lives. Staff members assist residents in learning life skills and building relationships by evaluating individual needs and suggesting strategies, services, and supports to optimize individual functioning. Team members are expected to be quick thinking, responsible, and excellent problem solvers, bringing ideas and good energy to the residents' environment. As a Living Support / Direct Support Professional, you will support adults with developmental disabilities who receive DD Waiver (DDW) services to live as independently as possible within assisted living homes and programs.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a fingerprint and background check (Provided by the company)
  • Complete a TB Test (Provided by the company)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Enjoy coaching and mentoring others
  • Patient, respectful, tactful, and calm under pressure
  • Have a heart for serving people with disabilities

Responsibilities

  • Support residential clients with disabilities in leading self-directed, independent, meaningful lives
  • Help residents live their best lives
  • Help residents learn life skills and build relationships by evaluating specific individual needs
  • Suggest strategies, services, and supports that will optimize individual functioning
  • Provide support and guidance in assisted living homes and programs
  • Provide support in areas of daily living including bathing, hygiene, shopping, meal preparation, transportation, and housekeeping
  • Model appropriate social skills and behaviors
  • Teach others about disabilities
  • Work with participants to learn new skills and achieve goals using effective teaching and mentoring techniques
  • Assist participants with educational and recreational activities to improve community access
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation
  • Promptly report any concerns about residents' health or safety
