Litigation Support Assistants will serve as a critical bridge between legal teams – lawyers and paralegals - and our in-house science teams. The Litigation Support assistant will provide litigation support to attorneys, paralegals, and the Science team as directed by Environmental Litigation & Policy leadership. They will also collect legal and background information for our cases. Location: San Diego, CA (Hybrid) SALARY: $25.00-$27.00/hour Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Big Picture As directed by the Environmental Litigation & Policy leadership, Litigation Support Assistants will collect data, research factual and legal issues, draft memos regarding their findings, and otherwise support attorneys, paralegals, and the science team in case preparation. Those tasks may include: Coordination: Act as a central point of contact for lawyers and scientific experts to facilitate the flow of case-critical information. Case Preparation & File Management: Organize and maintain high-volume digital and physical case files, including environmental records, technical reports, and scientific data. Scientific & Legal Research: Conduct preliminary research on relevant regulations, statutes, and scientific literature under the supervision of senior staff. Fact Development: Conduct preliminary research on the environmental situations we are working on. Discovery Support: Manage tasks needed to assist paralegals in their duties. Trial & Deposition Support: Prepare exhibit binders and digital presentations; coordinate logistics for virtual or in-person hearings and expert testimony. Specific Tasks Review and organize discovery in EverLaw. Create time lines for our cases Prepare case appendices Reviewing client records Locate relevant information for claims, Compile and summarize historical facts about emerging and past environmental problems, including reviewing agency records and other government information. Prepare requests for publicly available information from government entities (such as FOIA requests).
