About The Position

Sartorius has an onsite position available for a Research Intern (Lipid Nanoparticle & mRNA Synthesis) at our Marlborough, MA site. In this role, you will contribute to the full product development cycle-from concept to prototype-and collaborate closely with engineers and scientists in a multidisciplinary environment. As part of our team in Marlborough, we are seeking a highly motivated intern with a multidisciplinary background in biomedical and bioengineering. Onsite role based at our Marlborough, MA site

Requirements

  • Education PhD graduate or student in biomedical, chemical, mechanical engineering, or related field with formal education and experience with lipid nanoparticles and/or nucleic acids.
  • Experience Hands-on laboratory work including mammalian cell culture and handling of RNA.
  • Experience with LNP formulation characterization techniques and biological assays used to evaluate key LNP properties
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Ideal to have an experience with one or more of the following: dynamic light scattering (DLS), nanoparticle tracking analysis, RiboGreen assay, HPLC
  • Familiarity with nanoparticle formulation, microfluidics instruments, laboratory automation, chromatography (AKTA), advanced cell models, in vivo animal models, and in vitro transcription is plus.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, execute, and maintain protocols for the preparation and characterization of lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations encapsulating nucleic acid cargo using automated LNP synthesis platforms.
  • Perform in vitro assays to assess transfection efficiency and delivery of nucleic acids using formulated LNPs in mammalian cell systems.
  • Conduct systematic experiments of in vitro transcription (IVT) reaction on benchtop bioreactors; collect and analyze the data.
  • Support process development activities for LNP screening, scale-up, and manufacturing-relevant workflows.
  • Troubleshoot issues with experimental design and execution.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data; prepare technical summaries and present results in internal meetings and reviews.
