About The Position

Lift Mechanic III Position Summary Pajarito Mountain Ski Area is seeking a highly experienced Lift Mechanic III to serve as a senior technical resource within the Lift Maintenance team. This position is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, major maintenance and repairs, regulatory compliance, and leadership support for lift operations. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional mechanical skill, a strong safety culture, and the ability to mentor and guide junior mechanics.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5+ years of aerial and/or surface lift maintenance experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently inspect, maintain, and repair lift systems
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems; working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in lift maintenance or a related field
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and ANSI standards
  • Comfortable working at heights and in physically demanding environments
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work on steep, uneven terrain
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, and evenings
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive experience with Doppelmayr, Leitner-Poma, or similar lift manufacturers
  • ANSI B77 inspection and compliance experience
  • Rope evacuation leadership experience
  • Welding, fabrication, or machining skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual lift inspections in compliance with ANSI B77 and manufacturer standards
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic lift issues
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs and major component replacements
  • Serve as a technical lead during lift malfunctions and emergency responses, including rope evacuations
  • Support seasonal startup, teardown, load testing, and third-party/state inspections
  • Ensure accurate completion and review of all maintenance logs, inspection reports, and compliance documentation
  • Assist in developing maintenance schedules, procedures, and best practices
  • Mentor and train Lift Mechanic I and II staff, promoting safe and efficient work habits
  • Coordinate with Mountain Operations, Ski Patrol, and management to maintain safe lift operations
  • Maintain lift facilities, tools, and equipment to professional standards
  • Work at heights and outdoors in all weather conditions
