Pool Operations Support OVERVIEW The role of a Pool Operations Support team member is to provide for aquatics support essential to safe pool and aquatics operations. It requires alertness, flexibility, focus, attention to detail, and professionalism, coupled with a positive, outgoing attitude so that residents and guests feel at ease and relaxed knowing you are present. Duties include pool maintenance and cleaning, covering urgent unfilled shifts, training and coaching Lifeguards, and assisting Aquatics Manager with projects and tasks. WHAT YOU’LL DO ● Train, mentor and coach Lifeguards on standards, maintenance, and cleanliness. ● Be prepared to travel to different sites throughout your shift. ● Perform pool maintenance, cleaning, and other duties to support site operations ● Review, audit and organize pool logs for monthly submission and check the pool permit and safety plan are in proper order and presentable to the NYCDOH. ● Cover unfilled shifts as assigned: ○ Greet by name and welcome customers who come to use the pool (and related amenities) ○ Take water readings, document readings and adjust chemicals in the pool as needed ○ Supervise the pool and pool area at all times while on shift ○ Take action to make sure pool rules are enforced ○ Keep detailed daily logs of water readings and number of bathers ○ Close the pool and take remedial action in the event of any hazards ○ Maintain cleanliness of pool by regularly brushing the water line on the pool walls, wiping down railings, folding towels, squeegee and mop pool deck, among other tasks or “side work” ○ Report any chemical issues that you cannot correct to the Aquatics Manager. ○ Check inventory of chemicals, and report on possible overages of supplies or need for supply order to the site manager ● As directed, support the Aquatics Director on projects and tasks. ● If specifically trained to do so, you may be asked to issue disciplinary action to team members. ● Wear the proper uniform and ensure that other lifeguards are wearing their proper uniforms. Report deficiencies to the Aquatics Manager and/or site manager. YOU’RE GOOD AT ● Remembering to use and ask regular residents and guests for their names and making them feel special ● Being the go-to person for all pool-related matters while on shift ● Being knowledgeable about the URBN app in case a resident has a question ● Communicate and share information about URBN Playground’s offered services like swim lessons to customers ● Being thorough and detailed in taking pool readings and maintaining logs ● Ensuring compliance with all pool rules and policies, including reckless behavior ● Staying alert and focused while on shift ● Working independently with minimal supervision ● Working on a team to log water quality control or other issues for the next person on shift
