About The Position

RiverMead, a progressive, not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Life Enrichment Specialist to join our team. As a Life Enrichment Specialist, you will assist in coordinating, planning, and implementing life enrichment programs and activities for Health Center residents in conjunction with other staff and volunteers. You will have the opportunity to add to the daily fulfillment and joy of our Health Center residents. We are currently looking for either full time or part time employment. At RiverMead, we promote a supportive and team-oriented work environment. As a full-service community, we provide our residents with a range of services and amenities. Additionally, you would be eligible for our weekend differential of $1.50 per hour for all hours worked from Friday at 5:00 PM through Sunday at midnight.

Requirements

A high school diploma, equivalent to at least one year of related experience and/or training, is required.
CPR certification required.
Valid state driver's license and clean driving record.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide programming to and communicate with the geriatric population.
Ability to assess data reflecting the resident's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each resident's requirements.
Ability to write reports and general correspondence.
Ability to respond to questions from groups of managers, residents, staff, and the general public.
Ability to remain calm in all types of situations, including emergencies.

Responsibilities

Implement diverse and stimulating life enrichment programs for Health Center residents.
Engage directly with residents and staff in group and one-on-one activities.
Works closely with the Life Enrichment Team and Therapy to develop exercise and other wellness programs for residents.
Observe and document residents' weekly attendance at programs and activities.
As appropriate, note and report any changes in the resident's participation to the nurse on duty and the Health Center Life Enrichment Manager.
Assists with the needs of assisted residents during activities.
Attends and participates in planned excursions throughout the month, as outlined in the Activities Calendar.
Required to work in group and one-on-one settings with residents with varying impairment levels (cognitive, physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual).
Meets regularly with residents who are less participatory to provide socialization and discuss ongoing needs.
Contributes to the team effort of the Life Enrichment Department by making suggestions, helping others, and taking responsibility for maintaining high-performance standards.
